Preventing Pet (& people) Parasites
We feel that year round monthly preventative care in the form of heartworm prevention, routine parasite prevention, and flea and tick prevention is very important not only for your pet but also for your family.
These parasites can cause discomfort, transmit disease and even be deadly to your pet. They are all almost completely preventable by administering safe medications monthly to your pet. After baseline testing (fecal & blood samples) we will prescribe the best medication available for the prevention of these diseases in your pet. Year round administration insures good compliance and prevents ‘breaks”
We routinely prescribe the following for all pets:
Some parasites are contagious to people (roundworms to children) and this makes what we do in the prevention arena ever so much more important. We recommend heartworm/hookworm/roundworm prevention year-round to insure that your pet and any child that has exposure to your pet is safe from parasite problems.
For more information on parasites and your family’s health visit the CDC Website or visit the Companion Animal Parasite Council whose guidelines we follow here at our clinic.
