Puppy Wellness

puppy wellnessA puppy or kitten that will be a part of your family for years deserves the best possible start. We recommend the first visit at around 8 weeks or when you first get your new pet home. Your new family member needs to have a complete exam to detect any medical problems and to have a full discussion on nutrition, behavior, and the necessary vaccinations and parasite treatment/prevention. Our qualified staff will be there to help you every step along the way. We all have pets of our own and one of our favorite “tasks” is to help get you and your pet off to a healthy start!
After a comprehensive physical exam we will recommend the following:

• Fecal (stool) exam to check for parasites (please bring with you on your 1st visit)
• Vaccinations for Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Leptospirosis, Parvo & Rabies (Additional vaccinations for Kennel Cough and Lyme if needed based on lifestyle)
• Heartworm Preventative medication
• Deworming for Intestinal Parasites
• Flea & Tick Control medication

We will consult with you on the following

• Dental homecare
• Housetraining
• Spaying and neutering
• Behavior issues
• Proper exercise
• What type of foods to feed
• Feeding intervals

Puppy wellness exams are recommended when your puppy is:

1st between 7 & 10 weeks of age
2nd between 10 & 13 weeks of age
3rd between 13 & 16 weeks of age
4th between 16 & 18 weeks of age
Final puppy visit between 6 to 7 months of age
