The first step in detecting a medical problem is a thorough history and comprehensive physical exam. We need to know that your pet is free of problems such as heart murmurs, dental, ear and skin infections, fleas and ticks, and abdominal disorders before any laboratory tests are performed, x-ray images taken or medication prescribed.
We will include the following in our search for problems related to your pet’s illness.
- Heart rate
- Ears
- Eyes
- Gums/teeth
- Dental condition index
- Coat condition
- Skeleton/nervous system
- Lymph nodes
- Abdomen pain assessment
Following this exam the doctor will discuss all the findings and propose a treatment plan that outlines the recommended procedures and associated benefits and costs of those procedures. Our goal is to detect all problems affecting your pet so that our treatment can be comprehensive and successful. Additional if specialized diagnostics or referral is indicated we have multiple choices for each modality within the madison area and will assist in this all important decision.
