Comprehensive exams
Comprehensive Physical Exams for Senior Pets
As our pets mature, significant aging changes and disease progression can develop quickly and sometimes with very subtle signs. Behavioral changes can be significant and cold negatively affect the bond we have with our pets. For this reason, we strongly recommend a comprehensive physical exam every 6 months for pets 7-10 years of age and older, which varies based on size and breed.
During this wellness exam, your veterinarian will evaluate your pet’s:
- Weight and discuss senior nutritional issues
- Skin for masses, infection or parasites
- Haircoat for parasites or hairloss
- Musculoskeletal and neurologic systems to assess for arthritis
- Eyes for cataracts, infection
- Ears to look for mites or infection
- Teeth and gums and discuss home care
- Heart and respiratory system
- Abdomen through palpation to evaluate the intestines, kidneys, liver
Any concerns you have will be addressed and lab work or medication may be recommended. We are committed to making your pet’s senior years golden ones!
